Lest we forget

“The War to end all Wars”....that famous quote by H.G.Wells reflected an idealists view, based on the unprecedented scale of human loss and destruction. Out of the incredible devastation a momentary ray of optimism shone, Wells assumed that mankind would never again turn to war to settle its political or religious differences.

As we approach the centenary marking the end of The Great War and the signing of the truce, it is perhaps more important than ever that we take a moment to reflect on the loss of 700,00 brave British Soldiers who died in the First World War, and consider that this horrific conflict resulted in an estimated 40 million military and civilian casualties around the world.

Lest we forget........
