Vintage speckled straw boater from King’s School Canterbury. Dating from the first half 20thC previously belonging to Brigadier R D H Perry who attended the school and joined Galpins House.
Said to be England’s oldest public school, part of the Eaton Group.
Founded by King Henry the Eighth by the Charter of Foundation, which he granted in the Thirty-third year of his reign, 1542.
The hat is in good used condition, stamped internal leather headband with owners details, mesh and printed satin lining, mauve decorative band to outer to signify house/sport played.
The school continued to include boaters in the uniform convention up to 1970.
Ideal for summer events, film dramatisation and period events like Goodwood Revival.
