Preserved for posterity, genuine British made flat scale Jaeger speedometer gauge presented in unique display frame. Dating from the beginning of the 1950s this truly unique display piece is ideal for vintage and classic car enthusiasts and Humber Hawk and Humber Super Snipe car enthusiasts in particular.

This eye catching dial employs a flat scale dial which is futuristic in its design employing a bold space age type face for its numerals all the way up to 90mph.

Edmond Jaeger the premium brand watch maker started producing aviation instruments for English and French pilots with the help of Jacques-David LeCoultre’s company, this expanded into car dials as car production levels increased. It’s instruments were so revered, that even German pilots began using the Jaeger instruments from planes which they had shot down. A Jaeger instrument was found in Manfred von Richthofen’s cockpit, when the notorious German ace, known as the Red Baron, was eventually defeated.

This display piece was conceived and created by one of our regular contributors who has a real talent for sympathetic repurposing of vintage automotive and aeronautical items.

Carefully placed within a freestanding display frame behind a circular perspex pane, the speedo is suspended and preserved in its original state for display or may be removed at a later date to be serviced and tested ahead of playing its part in a restoration project.
