The main subject is the steam powered Royal Navy Torpedo Boat 2nd Class at sea, with HMS Hecla in the background.identical copy held at National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, London.

This Coastal Destroyer class was designed for patrolling coastal waters and to be carried by larger vessels. Made by Thornycroft Chiswick and Yarrow at Poplar. Retired from service in the early 1900’s in favour of combustion engine variants.

Good quality black and gilt frame, glass and quality mount, colours still true.
