A rather handsome working example, 1930's/40's Smiths Astral solid brass 8 day movement ships bulkhead clock.
Primarily used by the Royal Navy and Admiralty with crossover versions used by the British Army and the Air Ministry under War Department specifications. 
These robust clocks were put to work on-board naval vessels fixed to the bulkhead as its name suggests, within Armed Forces Mess and Control Rooms. 
This particular example served its time in an Army Officers Mess.
Offered in well cared for working condition including the enamel dial.
This is a substantial piece includes its original bevelled glass, steel hands, enamel dial,  winder and small key to lock the cover window to prevent tampering. It also includes its circular oak backboard.
Bench tested, this clock is keeping good time.
