For ease of relocation this three part antique library piece consists of removable cornice, glazed bookcase and separate cupboard base with slide out fitted secretaire.
Consisting of classic moulded cornice with ebonised line inlaid detail, over glazed cabinet with equal astragal glazed doors with ebonised line inlaid detail, opening to three original height adjustable shelves. Original key present.
Cupboard base with smart square edge top over full width slide out fitted secretaire with two original brass Georgian oval drawer pulls and ebonised line inlaid detail, fitted interior with 8 internal drawers, six pigeon holes, central locked compartment and central leather skiver writing surface, over two equal flush doors with ebony line inlaid detail opening to single shelf raised on bracket feet.
This well cared for antique mahogany bookcase is a fabulous dark mahogany shade with a great patina, it retains its original glass, shelves, etc. It has been cherished by its previous owners including minor historical repairs to small areas of missing veneer and touched in colouration to the lower corner of the glazed doors. A handsomely proportioned piece of furniture offering lots of practical storage and the benefit of the secretaire work area.
Please anticipate fine scratches, indents, marks and patina including internal ink stains within drawers from previous use, all of which contribute to its unique character.
