Late 19th C toleware metal cash box in japanned black livery with gold and old gold gilt border detail and pinstriping. 
Hinged lid with brass carry handle of square form. Internally the box has its original removable metal tray with three compartments, two hinged and one slide out cover. 
This box includes its original key for practical everyday use.
Fabulous bright patina reflecting careful and appropriate use through the decades (rub marks, scratches, indents and marks).
