The Atomic era was in full swing and the lucky kids of the 1950s were treated to a taste of the future with this space play set based on the popular Dan Dare character.

Made between 1958 and 1962 by J&L Randal Ltd in England it features a console with articulated revolving, flashing light, buzzer morse code lever, interplanetary transmitter and space for a small note pad.

The toy also includes two handheld communication devices that connect to the console by wires allowing basic communication between the devices.

The console runs on two large format batteries, at the time of testing all the functions worked if the movable plug pin was jiggled to make best contact. (Due to its age we are unable to guarantee the continued functionality of the basic electronic components).

This item comes with its original box featuring our hero and his side kick. Please take with a pinch of salt the bold claims on the box, this was the era prior to the introduction of trade description acts!

Height: 30.5 cm console, Width: 27 cm console including hook, Depth: 7.5 cm console.
