Stunning framed early Victorian, hand coloured print from engraving.
A very fine piece of work carefully hand painted over original engraving print, colours are still bright, minor foxing to background.
Inscribed J Melcher 1848, we are unsure if this relates to the artist or the subject.
The uniform resembles a Cavalry Regiment Lancer Officers red tunic with double row of brass buttons, high collar and epaulettes.
The antique print is framed in an original frame of the same period with under-glass painted surround on original spun glass. Some losses to plaster frame moulding, frame refreshed and retouched to match original colours.
A fabulous original art piece with charm and distinction.
