Benefiting from hand aquatint application this scene is framed in a gilt frame with mount, under glass.
In the foreground we have steam and sail including a barge.
In the distance the impressive Greenwich Hospital, an architectural delight, established in 1694 by Queen Mary ll, the Royal Hispital for seaman, founded to care for retired Royal Navy sailors and their families from 1705.
During its peak it supported 2000 pensioners. From 1869 it became the Royal Naval College.
