Die Another Day (2002) is the 20th James Bond film and the final outing for Pierce Brosnan as 007, released to mark the franchise’s 40th anniversary. The film opens unusually with Bond being captured and tortured in North Korea, before unfolding into a globe-trotting, high-tech plot involving a space-based weapon (Icarus), an Icelandic ice palace, and one of the series’ most famous gadgets—the invisible Aston Martin Vanquish. It also introduced Halle Berry’s Jinx, a deliberate nod to classic Bond imagery, and featured a much-discussed Madonna theme song and cameo, making it one of the era’s most commercially successful yet critically divisive Bond films.
