Mature oak tones and shadows from the well executed geometric patterns play across the front elevation of this piece, providing an interesting sense of texture and depth to this formal piece.
The chest section comprises of moulded edge top over 4 graduated long oak lined drawers with attractive brass tear-drop drawer pulls and various classic geometric patterns formed with oak moulding, fielded panel sides and chamfer moulded base . The chest sits atop its separate matched oak stand.
The stand comprises of chamfer moulded top edge rail, single long oak lined drawer with two lozenge-form brass pull handles and three mould framed sections, raised on arched frieze and four slender turned legs to the front and two turned legs to the rear.
This character piece has been periodically repaired and cared for through the decades including replacement legs, a small selection of replaced geometric mouldings and shrinkage crack repairs to the top. Drawer bottoms exhibit narrow shrinkage cracks which have been carefully taped ready for the buyer to place their own choice of drawer liner.
