Antique silver plated car mascot / hood ornament.
Produced from 1919 to commemorate the Allied forces success in the Great War.
This piece features the winged goddess of victory with her historical attributes the palm branch, the symbol of victory, peace. triumph and eternal life. In her left hand she once carried a trumpet announcing victory, again the symbolic emblem of triumph over the foe. Sadly part of the trumpet is no longer present.
The quality of design and casting is equal to the more common Spirit of Ecstasy mascot adopted by Rolls Royce throughout the first half of the 20thC.
This particular mascot design appears at auction from time to time but it is worth considering that this mascot is much rarer than its Rolls Royce equivalent.
This antique WW1 period item has signs of wear tear including, scratches and minor loss of silver finish in parts. Please study high resolution images for condition.
