Featuring the iconic, trusted brand that has touched and continues to touch the hearts of millions, this genuine vintage Interflora florists sign is a rare opportunity to acquire a piece of advertising and signage history.

The sign was originally manufactured by The Acme Showcard & Sign Co. Ltd. and is called a Facet Stereo Sign. The Patent No. is 849680 and European Patent Office patent no. GB849680A by Wilfred Harold Messer. The patent describes the sign as Apparatus for use in producing polychromatic light effects. Date: 1960-09-28.

The Acme Showcard & Sign Co. Ltd. Paragon Works, Green Street, Enfield, England has long since closed its doors but was highly regarded.

The sign depicts a very distinguished image of Mercury Man running in flight with a handful of flowers in front of a yellow sun and sparkling background and the words Interflora and Flowers World Wide at the bottom of the scene.

The illuminated sign was designed to be hung prominently in the florists main window to attract trade and pronounce the association with the brand. This original piece has been carefully cleaned, metal case repainted, rewired and mounted on a purpose made British oak stand for display (With the addition of new chains it could be hung once again if preferred). The rewiring of the sign allows it to be used as feature lamp/light source. The decorative acrylic front panel is in very good, clean condition, the metal back has been repainted in copper.

The original sign was designed with a small motor and gear system which turned a multicoloured wheel to create the polychromatic light effect. The plastic gears are time worn, we are unable to guarantee the continuity of rotation.

This is a high quality piece of vintage advertising which could be used in film sets, business merchandising purposes or home display.

One of our favourite advertising pieces of recent years.
