This substantial piece stands proud in its warm mahogany tones, gentle ageing and fading of the flamed mahogany helps the chest take on colours approaching mid-tone walnut. This means it will harmonise with darker or lighter furniture in the same space.
Consisting of 9 useful drawers (including secret top and bottom drawer) this antique chest of drawers provides generous storage for most garment types including top hats!
Profiled top (with historic bottle ring marks), roll front secret top drawer over double depth left hand short drawer, central hat drawer, two short drawers to right hand side, three graduated deep long drawers, secret bottom drawer, drawers flanked by expertly turned tapering columns, all drawers include turned pulls, chest raised on four turned feet.
We can see that this piece has been cherished over the decades including signs of historic repairs including small areas of replaced veneer to areas subject to wear and tear, some replaced cock beading, etc.
This fabulous piece stands really well, one of our most favourite finds of the year.
