A nice example, 19thC Headmaster’s glazed bookcase cabinet in lovely mid-tone mahogany.
This two part antique consists of glazed bookcase and separate cupboard base for ease of relocation.
Glazed bookcase cabinet consisting of classic flared cornice over equal glazed doors opening to three original, adjustable shelves.
Cupboard base with moulded edge top over full width drawer over two equal doors opening to two original, adjustable shelves raised on square section plinth base.
The mid tone mahogany is a fabulous shade on this piece, deep orange colours glow in sunlight.
Ahead of sale the following renovation will have taken place -
- Re-fix two lengths of original bead moulding (both pieces present).
- Replace small areas of missing veneer to the square section plinth at the bottom of the base (most probably damaged by office chairs, knocks from vacuum cleaning).
- 2 stage polish to all external surfaces.
This is a well cared for antique piece retaining its original glass and shelves, please anticipate fine scratches, indents, marks and patina from previous use.
