A chance to own a charming piece of 19th Century Chinese decorative design dating from around 1880.
Once used for the safe storage of the most important documents or items of personal worth. In later decades papers gave way to Jewellery and trinkets.
Red lacquered using sap of the Rhus Verniciflua tree, leather lined casket with bronze hasp and carry handles and raised Chinese decorative motifs in gilt finish.
Chinese craftsmen were skilled at combing paper mache, lacquer, leather and metalwork.
Over the decades the box has lost some of its external decorative elements and lacquer but this just adds to the charm and makes the item even more unique.
The inside has its original lining with marks from use.
A lovely antique decorative item for your personal space.
The casket is 38.5cm wide, 23cm deep, 17cm tall.
£225.00 including postage to U.K. zone 1 addresses.
For postage costs to addresses outside U.K. zone 1 and overseas postage please enquire prior to placing your order thank you.
