Vintage Japanese solid Kaya wood Go game board / Goban with traditional carved feet.

This is a genuine vintage item imported from Japan, the board has a lovely warm tone patina which will darken over time from further usage. Horizontal wood expansion opening to two edges (this is normal for large solid blocks of wood). 

The Board comes with 2 sets of Goishi stones (made from resin) ready for you to master the adversarial art of Go gameplay!

Go is an abstract strategy board game for two players, in which the aim is to surround more territory than the opponent. 

The game was invented in China more than 2,500 years ago and is believed to be the oldest board game continuously played to the present day.

Go was considered one of the four essential arts of the cultured aristocratic Chinese scholars in antiquity.

It is estimated that there are over 46 million people worldwide who know how to play Go and over 20 million current players, the majority of whom live in East Asia.
