Dating from the 1880’s this ‘Alaska’ brand Oak and Ash Ice Cabinet/Ice Box was the forerunner to the refrigerator.

Prior to the introduction of electricity ice would have been placed in the box to maintain lower temperatures to prolong the life of foods and produce.

This would have been a very expensive and exclusive purchase for a home pantry of note.

Fine Panelled Oak doors, elaborate hand forged brass ironmongery and metal lined internals contribute to make this a very substantial and stunning piece.

The natural aged patina and life related marks, splits and flaws give this item a unique appearance making it a perfect centrepiece such as maybe a home bar, undercover outside kitchen, freestanding food store or maybe a studio prop for stunning commercial photography (Perfect for branding photography for a alcoholic beverage company)?

A rare and not to be missed item.
