Using ‘new old stock’ parts and reproduction parts (where replacement original parts not available) this lamp takes its inspiration from the renowned 1940s WW2 Air Ministry Navigators lamp AM 5C/1079 by Herbert Terry. The 5C lamp design used patented Anglepoise spring design elements combined with friction discs to arrest movement and allow accurate angling of the light source. The 5C was built from super light aluminium and carefully selected non ferrous materials given its intended applications. This lamp design was installed in the hugely successful Wellington Bomber, Varsity Trainer and the formidable and highly acclaimed Lancaster Bomber which proved so vital to the allied war effort courtesy of its overnight bombing raids where the lamp was an essential piece of equipment. This particular example comes with a heavy 1940s vintage cast iron base allowing you to take full advantage of the tremendous reach of this lamp. For the sake of clarity, this is a faithful reproduction lamp using ‘new old stock’ and reproduction parts. £245.00 Postage can be arranged at separate cost.
