The publisher, Marcus Ward & Company, founded in Belfast, was a stationery, colour-printing and publishing business that gained an international reputation for the quality of its products. In 1867 Marcus Ward & Co of Belfast established a London office and showroom. The company thrived for two decades, however, by the mid 1890's the company was struggling. Marcus & Ward went into dissolution in 1899. Condition - Good condition throughout, strong colours to illustrations, fine foxing to margins, hinges are still tight, ink marks to front cover/small indentations, inscription inside front cover dated 1898.
