Step back in time with this formidable 1940s mountaineering ice axe.

Made near Mont Blanc, Chamonix, France by the esteemed makers Francois Simond & Fils.

Family Blacksmiths and woodworkers with production history dating back to 1820, generations of family members supplied the blossoming exploration and mountaineering scene for decades.

This particular example is a Simond Special D, the makers stamp and engraving is still clear to see in the metal axe head.

The wooden shaft, axe head and ground spike are all in good aged condition and still has its original canvas loop and ring, making the piece very presentable for display or period costume use.

Whether it’s decoration for a themed interior space, pride of place in your ski chalet or a desired collectible, rest assured this is a fine example for your intended purposes.

£145.00 + £9.00 postage to U.K. zone 1 addresses.
