Professionally framed genuine late 1930s London Paddington Station GWR promotional poster. This poster was in storage for decades in the attic of a railway station and eaten by mice in one or two places. We have sympathetically followed the war time principle of make-do and mend adding simple brown paper and water based glue patches to the rear of the poster to fill the sections eaten by the mice. The poster was then framed by professional framers and placed under glass for protection. During the 30s the Railway Companies undertook several sustained promotional campaigns to increase traveller numbers. This promotion was targeting guest houses, B&B’s and hotels to advertise in a book designed to promote their establishment to the public. Other campaigns included Dog Rail Tickets, Take your car on Holiday, as well as specific promotion of inland and coastal locations and attractions. Framed for posterity this original poster is perfect for rail enthusiasts, accommodation providers and lovers of vintage advertising and period lifestyle.
